Captain Danny Crabbe

Captain Danny Crabbe is a third generation waterman with over 50 years of experience working on the Chesapeake Bay and its tributaries. He was born and raised in the Northern Neck of Virginia and makes his home on the picturesque Little Wicomico River on property his grand-father originally purchased in the 1920’s.  At the age of 8, he helped his father and brothers build his first crabbing skiff out of recycled church pews and the rest, as they say, is history… He is a U.S. Coast Guard certified captain with an established reputation for safety, professionalism and southern hospitality. Captain Danny has a wealth of knowledge and experience regarding local fisheries, history and culture and takes great pride in sharing this information with each and every visitor.  Although he is currently a commercial/charter fisherman, he is also actively engaged in crabbing and oyster aquaculture. Types of available tours include:

  • Hands-on oyster tonging
  • Oyster aquaculture
  • Hands-on crab potting
  • Fishing tours (charter fishing and commercial gill netting)
  • Scenic day and evening cruises highlighting local history
  • Dinner cruises to local restaurants
  • Bird watching tours
  • Customized tours tailored to your individual needs (including cruises to Tangier and Smith Islands)

Join Captain Danny on the “KIT II” (a genuine 43’ Chesapeake Bay deadrise) and take a relaxing tour of the Little Wicomico, lower Potomac and the surrounding Chesapeake Bay area.  Larger groups can easily be accomodated as the KIT II is Coast Guard certified to carry up to 24 passengers!  Contact Captain Danny Crabbe for seasonal tour availability and pricing.
